Project.

Happy New Year!  I really enjoyed 30 Days of Lists last fall (and will be doing that again in a couple months) but I wanted a project that could carry me through the year.  Knowing that I have a busy family and tons of volunteer commitments as well as a job and other interests,  I wanted a modest project that I could reasonably expect to complete.   I’ve been wanting to create some “house” art for quite a while, originally I’d been thinking 3-D art but for 2012 I’m going with paper art.  My goal is to create one house a week and place the results in a new visual journal from Strathmore.   I’d like to explore different techniques and materials as I go but the main goal is to create a house a week and share it here.   I got this great book for Christmas (shown in the pic) and hope to put to use some of the prompts for my project.  Did my first house yesterday!

Right Now.

Outside my window...it’s dark but the neighbors Christmas lights are glowing…

I am thinking...that I’m really tired.  Turning into an old lady going to bed earlier and earlier.

I am thankful for...the 13 years we’ve shared together in this house.

From the kitchen...chocolate cake and tortilla soup for a certain teenager’s birthday-yum!

I am wearing...a t-shirt that I couldn’t wear a year ago (wee!!!), black pants and snowflake socks.

I am creating...recycled paper ornaments for the nursing home with my Girl Scouts.

I am going...to miss having “small children”!

I am reading...The Phone Book by Ammon Shea AND Little House On The Prairie

I am hoping...to make felt ornaments in time for Christmas.

I am hearing...the sifting of Lego blocks while my oldest puts together his birthday present.

Around the house...things are looking pretty good-the best our home has looked since before “almost moving to Indiana”.

One of my favorite things...snuggling on the couch with my Lola dog.

A few plans for the rest of the week: work, D’s birthday plans, rehearsals, finishing nursing home ornaments, maybe some Christmas baking….. might just bust open a bottle of wine!

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

We play with our food and eat M&M's for breakfast....  We were scrolling through some old photos tonight and my daughter squealed in delight when she saw this one!  She had forgotten that once we ate M&M's for breakfast.... I'm guessing they'll be requested again very very soon.
